Francis H. Pierpont

This is the first complete and authentic history of the formation of the state of West Virginia as well as a biography of one of its most important statesmen. The study was made possible through the acquisition by the West Virginia University of the Pierpont Letters and Papers, which include approximately one thousand telegrams relating to Civil War movements in northwest Virginia.
