Harry W. Pfanz (1921-2015) is author of a trilogy of books on the Battle of Gettysburg. A lieutenant, field artillery, during World War II, he served for ten years as a historian at Gettysburg National Military Park and retired from the position of Chief Historian of the National Park Service in 1981.
