Durham co-op: listen on Friday, party on Sunday

All you co-op fans, please come support the Durham Central Market on Sunday, Feb. 13, at the star-studded Investment Campaign and Pep Rally for this co-op-in-progress.

The event, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Trotter Building, 410 W. Geer St., Durham, will include yummies from local chefs (Four Square, Watts Grocery, Piedmont and more), food-film clips from Durham Cinematheque, and a talk by Stuart Reid, from the national Food Co-op Initiative, who will share info about the growing trend of co-ops across the country.

Frank Stasio, host of WUNC’s “The State of Things,” will emcee the event. He’ll also include a co-op segment on his show tomorrow, Feb. 11, which airs at noon and can be heard online anytime during and afterward.

The Market needs to raise $1.5 million to take things from plan to reality. Help us make it happen. I say “us” because I’m member No. 57!
